MCP

Model Context Protocol — an open standard from Anthropic for connecting LLMs to external tools and data sources via a uniform interface.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard published by Anthropic in November 2024 that defines how LLMs discover and invoke external tools and data sources. Instead of every vendor inventing its own tool integration shape, MCP gives a uniform schema: an MCP server exposes resources (data) and tools (actions); any MCP-aware client can connect.

The motivation is composability. Today, integrating an agent with Slack, GitHub, and HubSpot means three custom integrations. With MCP servers for each, it’s three URL config lines. Adoption is growing fast — by mid-2026 most major AI vendors and dev tools shipped MCP support.
